A meeting of management and staff on Wednesday regarding the firing of the casino resort Naga World in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, will be mediated by Cambodia’s Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, trade union representative Sithar Chim said in a comment to GGRAsia.

The workers will ask casino resort management to reverse the decision to fire them, and plan to rehire some workers who have already been laid off.

She told GGRAsia that eight union members of Chim, the “labor rights support union of Nagarwold Khmer employees,” would attend the meeting along with two lawyers.

Her union also further noted to GGRAsia that it would seek a “recalculation” of compensation for Nagaworld workers who have already accepted their employer’s retirement arrangements.

Casino resort promoter Nagakov Inc confirmed some layoffs and pay cuts at casino resorts in a June 7 filing, with the latter taking effect in March. 안전한 카지노사이트

The company initially said it was an “active step” to manage the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the casino resort had been closed since early March due to an outbreak of infections among some workers.

Since then, the overall increase in COVID-19 cases in Phnom Penh has led to a form of lockdown.
