The timing of Kim Ha-sung (San Diego Padres), who is on the injured list (IL) of the US Major League Baseball due to right shoulder inflammation, has yet to be confirmed. MLBCOM said on the 29th (Korea time) that Kim Ha-sung joined the team playing away games in St. Louis, Missouri, and conducted catch and ground ball defense training. Kim Ha-sung added that he needs to conduct additional defense and throwing training as a shortstop.
During the game against the Colorado Rockies on the 19th, Kim Ha-sung entered the dugout complaining of shoulder pain while sliding into the opponent’s pitcher’s check. The San Diego club listed him on the 10-day IL two days later, and the registration date was applied retroactively to the 20th. Fortunately, it was not a major injury, and the club is considering Kim Ha-sung to return after perfect treatment and rehabilitation.
Kim Ha-sung can return to the roster as early as the 30th, but San Diego coach Mike Shildt declined to say specific timing of his return, only mentioning that “Kim Ha-sung will be released from the injured list around September 2, when the roster will be increased to 28.”
San Diego will travel to St. Petersburg, Eastern Florida, after an away game against St. Louis, and will return to San Diego on Sept. 3.
